Discover this itinerary
The journey begins in Marrakech and climbs into the High Atlas, where mountain roads lead toward Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate. This first stage combines dramatic scenery, traditional villages and some of Morocco’s best-known southern landscapes before reaching the gateway to the desert.
From Ouarzazate, the route turns south through Agdz and follows the Draa Valley toward Zagora. Palm groves, kasbahs and wide open valleys create a completely different riding environment from the mountains. The road remains scenic and varied while gradually introducing the drier landscapes of the south.
One of the highlights of this Morocco motorcycle adventure comes beyond Zagora. The route continues toward M’Hamid before reaching the remote terrain around Lake Iriki. Here the riding changes again, with wide desert plains, gravel sections and authorised tracks crossing open landscapes far from the busier tourist routes. The itinerary does not include dune riding.
After Lake Iriki, the route reaches Foum Zguid and continues north toward Taznakht and Taliouine. This section allows the pace to become more relaxed after the longer desert stage, with changing colours, open plateaus and quieter roads through the Anti-Atlas region.
The final riding day returns to Marrakech through impressive mountain scenery. Depending on weather, road conditions and local circumstances, some secondary roads or track sections may be adjusted to keep the journey enjoyable and appropriate for the group.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is included in the displayed starting price and is well suited to the combination of paved mountain roads and authorised tracks found on this route. Helmet, phone holder, USB charging, fuel, third-party liability insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance are also included.
The tour can be requested as a guided or self-guided experience depending on the preferred format. Departure dates are flexible for private groups, and riders can also request another motorcycle model if available. An optional support van can be added for the whole group.
For riders looking for a 5-day motorcycle tour from Marrakech that combines the Atlas Mountains, the Draa Valley, Zagora and the Lake Iriki region, this itinerary offers a balanced introduction to adventure riding in southern Morocco.
