Discover this itinerary
The journey starts in Marrakech and crosses the High Atlas through Telouet and the Ounila Valley to Aït Ben Haddou and Skoura. From there, the route enters the volcanic landscapes of Jbel Saghro before reaching N'Kob and Alnif.
The adventure continues from Alnif across open hamada and remote desert tracks to Merzouga. From Erg Chebbi, ride west through Tafraoute Sidi Ali toward Zagora on a route designed to avoid the classic deep-sand Ramlia section.
From Zagora, cross the remote southern desert toward the Erg Chigaga region and Lake Iriki before arriving in Foum Zguid. Continue through isolated mountain tracks to Taliouine, then finish the loop by crossing the High Atlas via Tizi n'Test, Ijoukak and Ouirgane back to Marrakech.
This tour is intended for riders with previous motorcycle experience and basic confidence on unpaved surfaces. Exact tracks may be adapted according to weather and terrain conditions. Riding in dunes is prohibited.
Beyond the route itself, this seven-day itinerary is designed to create a progressive riding experience. The first mountain stages introduce the group to Morocco’s changing elevation and road conditions before the terrain becomes increasingly remote around Jbel Saghro and the southern desert. The middle of the tour brings the most open and isolated sections, while the final return through Taliouine and Tizi n'Test provides a scenic transition back toward Marrakech.
The Yamaha Tenere 700 is the reference motorcycle for the displayed package and is well suited to this combination of paved roads, gravel and authorised tracks. The package also includes seven nights of hotel accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, a motorcycle guide with his motorcycle, fuel during the tour, a helmet, phone holder, USB charger, third-party liability insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
The route is best suited to riders who already have motorcycle experience and are comfortable with basic off-road riding. It is not an enduro or dune-riding tour. The emphasis is on long-distance adventure travel, varied surfaces and access to remote areas while keeping the itinerary realistic for a private group. An optional support van can be added for the whole group, and another motorcycle model may be requested depending on availability.

Day by day
Marrakech to Skoura — Telouet, Ounila Valley & Aït Ben Haddou
Leave Marrakech and climb into the High Atlas toward Telouet. Follow the spectacular Ounila Valley through traditional villages before reaching Aït Ben Haddou. Continue east through the changing southern landscape and finish among the palm groves of Skoura.
Skoura to Alnif — Jbel Saghro & N'Kob
Leave Skoura and enter the volcanic landscapes of Jbel Saghro. Ride mountain roads, rocky tracks and high plateaus toward N'Kob before continuing through remote terrain to Alnif. This is one of the more demanding stages because of the distance and changing surfaces.
Alnif to Merzouga — Fezzou & Desert Tracks
Ride from Alnif toward Fezzou before entering open hamada, gravel plains and remote desert tracks. The route avoids dune riding and heads east toward Merzouga, where the dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon.
Merzouga to Zagora — Tafraoute Sidi Ali
Ride west from Erg Chebbi across remote Saharan plateaus toward Tafraoute Sidi Ali. The selected route avoids the classic deep-sand Ramlia section while preserving a genuine desert adventure. Continue on faster gravel and hard-packed tracks toward Zagora.
Zagora to Foum Zguid — Erg Chigaga & Lake Iriki
Cross remote desert terrain from Zagora toward the Erg Chigaga region and Lake Iriki. Expect gravel, hard-packed desert, rocky pistes and occasional softer sandy areas. The exact route may be adapted according to current terrain and weather conditions.
Foum Zguid to Taliouine — Remote Southern Tracks
Leave Foum Zguid and gradually climb away from the desert into remote mountain country. Gravel tracks, dry valleys and isolated settlements lead through high plateaus before the landscape becomes greener on the approach to Taliouine.
Taliouine to Marrakech — Tizi n'Test, Ijoukak & Ouirgane
Cross the High Atlas one last time via the legendary Tizi n'Test pass. Descend through Ijoukak and the N'Fis Valley toward Ouirgane before completing the final kilometres to Marrakech. Mountain road conditions are checked before departure.
